Privacy Policy

This is the plain version. We collect what we need to run the course, send the emails you asked for, and make the ads work. Nothing more. Here is exactly what that means.

Who we are

Scale Up Video is a Media Core company based in Rochester, Minnesota, in the United States. When this policy says "we" or "us," that is who you are dealing with. If you have a question about your data, email josh@scaleupvideo.com and a real person will answer.

What we collect and why

We only collect information tied to something you actually do on the site.

The free Playbook and email marketing

When you request the free Pricing Playbook or opt into our list, we collect your name and email. We use Netlify Forms to receive the signup and Mailchimp to store the list and send marketing email. We use this to send you the Playbook and occasional emails about the course. You can unsubscribe from any email with one click.

Buying a course

At checkout we collect your name, email, and payment details. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe handles the card data directly under its own security standards. We keep a record that you bought, so we can give you access and honor the guarantee.

Your course account

The course portal uses passwordless login. Instead of a password, we email you a one-click login link. To make that work we store your customer record (name, email, purchase, and access status) in Netlify Blobs. There is no password for anyone to steal because there is no password.

Usage, device data, and ads

We use the Meta Pixel (from Facebook and Meta) to measure our advertising and to show relevant ads to people like you. The pixel collects standard usage and device data such as pages viewed, browser, and approximate location by IP. Our host, Netlify, also keeps standard server logs (IP address, request time, pages served) for security and reliability. We use this data for analytics, to see what is working, and for advertising and retargeting.

Who processes your data

We keep the tool list short and name every company that touches your information:

• Netlify for hosting, form handling, and customer storage.
• Stripe for payment processing.
• Meta and Facebook for the tracking pixel and advertising.
• Google Workspace and Gmail for transactional email, such as your login link and welcome email.
• Mailchimp for the marketing email list.
• Slack for access to the private community.
• Vimeo for video embeds inside the course.

Each of these has its own privacy terms, and we only share what they need to do their job.

Cookies and tracking

We use the Meta Pixel and related analytics cookies to measure ads and site usage, as described above. You can control cookies through your browser settings and manage ad preferences through your Facebook and Meta account. Blocking these cookies will not stop you from buying or using the course.

Your rights

You are in control of your data.

• You can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time using the link in any email.
• You can ask us what data we hold about you.
• You can ask us to delete your data.

To request access or deletion, email josh@scaleupvideo.com. Note that if you delete your account data we may no longer be able to give you course access.

How long we keep it

We keep marketing contacts until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. We keep customer and purchase records for as long as you have access to the course, plus what we need to meet tax and accounting obligations. Server logs roll off on our host's standard schedule.

Children

This is a business course. It is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Where this applies

Scale Up Video is based in the United States, and the site and its data are handled in the United States. If you access the site from outside the US, you are sending your information to the US.
